Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Found myself side-by-side with Rusty today at the Palm Beach airport checking out magazines in Hudson News (me looking at Maxim; him at Time). That's one BIG dude. A youngster, about 8 or 9 years old, with a Mets hat walked by. Rusty said 'hey, nice hat'. The kid had no clue.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 So did you say, "Hey Rusty how's it going?" or did you just let him read his magazine.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I probably wouldn't recognize Rusty (or any ballplayer) in public unless it was pointed out for me so I'll give the kid benefit of the doubt.Would have been more intriguing for gossip if Rusty were reading Details or Men's Health.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 "Rusty Staub, holy shit, Le Grande Orange flies commercial! Say, is Seaver always such a turd?"
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 How about, "Hey, Mr. Millionaire Ballplayer! Whatsmatter? You can't afford to buy that magazine?"
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 So the question is; does Ted keep running into ex-Mets at airports by chance or is he some kind of stalker?I met and/or saw Rusty on a number of occasions over the years (although not recently) as he was always a big dude even before he became a HUGE dude.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 "I'm sorry, Davey, we can't put you in the Mets Hall of Fame until Ted runs into you in the airport. Rules is rules."
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 Hah freaking hah. TWO Mets, Seaver and Staub. Mike and the Mad Dog don't count. What shocked me was Rusty wearing black cotton sweat pants and a rather tight fitting gray t-shirt.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Farmer Ted - "What shocked me was Rusty wearing black cotton sweat pants and a rather tight fitting gray t-shirt." "I never knew the Michelin man had red hair." "Oh my God! What was he thinking?"
