stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Reyes gets at 2nd based on a balk despite getting tagged in midst of a rundown
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Freakin' Franco makes a nice play on a 2b side grounder and leads Pelfreywith a perfect throw to end an inning. Then gets up first and hits a single.I think maybe I'll whip up a dozen egg whites for a snack.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Mike Lamb drives in two with a double in the 3rd. So far hardest ball hit off of Pelfrey all day though.3-0 Astros through 2 and a half innings
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Jose Valentin rips a 2 out, run-scoring double to make it a one run ball game.Ensberg bobbles Milledge's grounder, Franco scores and we have a brand new ballgame!
Guest iramets Guests Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Question: When Milledge catches a fly ball, does he always do what he did on his first play today (to end the second, I think)--he looked like was waving off the CFer, Johnson--but Johnson couldn't have been anywhere near the play (it was on the RF line). Does Milledge do the "I got it" gesture even when there's no else's it could possibly be?
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Talk about polarizing, Rose and McCarthy were saying Armando Benitez was roundly booed when revealed as the answer for a mid-inning triva question (most saves in a single season by a Met)Reminds me of a story I read in Marty Appel's book about one day in the old Yankee Stadium, in midst of a rain delay during the early 1970's they decided to have a little fun with a newfangled rolling marquee scoreboard. They took the list of the All-Time HR leaders and just scrolled the top 20 or so, as the names rolled the crowd gave applause appropriate for that player, but when it came to Roger Maris' entry there were more boos than cheers, as his relationship with the Yankees and NY was still contentious at the time.

Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I propose there be no Yankee anecdotes in IGTs or STIGTs.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Call it all you want, use two hands, plant your legs properly for thebaserunner situation ... it's all good.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 4-3 Astros top of the 6th, Pelfrey's day is done. Jon Adkins in
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Another Stro run in, 5-3 bottom of the 6th
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Jorge Sosa walks in a run, looks like it's Sosa's jam to get out of as no one is warming up
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 2 run single by Eric Munson that bloops in.
Guest iramets Guests Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 10-3 Astros. Pitcher gets an RBI hit, Sosa out of the game, probably out of a Met career.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 And the hits keep on coming, passed ball, run scoresAnother run scoring base hit, by the freaking pitcher this time, and Willie is out to bring in a new pitcher just to get one out!
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Brandon Nall, wearing #89 with no name plate is in.A tall, lanky sidewinding righty.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 11-3 now heading to the bottom of the 7th.Ehem, Met Offense, UNITE AND ASSEMBLE!(insert Zvon's Teen Aqua Swim Martians with Met logos on them)
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 I know it's still ST, but my word, it's not like Fernando Nieve is Johan Santana or anything, but it seems that way since he took over for Wandy Rodriguez
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Aaron Heilman is in now

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Now, THATS more like it! 3 batters faced, three outs (including a DP)

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Well looks like the more prominent Bullpen guys are doing better than the flossum and jetssum that will not be going north like Sosa and Adkins. Spoiled a good Pelfrey outing.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Okay Offense, UNITE AND ASSEMBLE
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 I hope Lastings doesn't need that wrist.
