Guest KC Guests Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 We've had a thread or two in the past on this; do you sponsor a Met?I know Edgy sponsors Kranepool on our behalf, but who else is on board?I've sponsored Buddy (my first favorite player) and Wally (they broke themold) Backman in the past. This morning I sponsored Bobby Valentine.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I know Irish has a few, including Ralph Kiner.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Looks like I'm currently sponsoring Tim Teufel and Ron Darling.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I think I've got Ed and Hobie Landrith.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Yes I have Kiner with this place linked...http://www.baseball-reference.com/k/kinerra01.shtmland Anderson Hernandezhttp://www.baseball-reference.com/h/hernaan01.shtml
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Got this today. The sponsorship for Tug McGraw has expired on Baseball-Reference.com. It currently costs $105 to sponsor this page and will drop to $35 in 10 days.As a reminder, we also have a group account, if you'd like to contribute to it. Log in as "Crane Pool" with the password of "***********." We sponsor Edgardo Alfonzo from that account, but we could also sponsor McGraw or somebody else.
Guest KC Guests Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I guess it's a good strategy, but the inflated renewal price is what turned meoff in the past. It's like, keep it at three times what you paid last year, or risk losing it to someone. If someone new bites at $105, will it be $315 to renew next year?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I'm in for a group sponsorship...Kiner is up in April, not sure what the price will be but I think I paid $75 last year to renew.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Let's just resolve never to jump at the inflated price. If some maniac pays top dollar for the Tugger, we'll move on to another Met. They're all good. Kinda.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Thanks for the help with the message.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I'm bumping this since I've been getting emails reminding me to renew my sponsorship and I keep forgetting. So here's another reminder to renew Darling and Teufel (or take someone else on) as well as encourage others to sponsor this valuable resource.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I forgot to renew Kiner...now he's gone...fuck
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I'm really pissed at myself for losing Ralph, for the $40 it would have cost me I have two Mets in mind to splash on,Maz and Sid Fernandez.....have to wait until I get home though.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 It's $30 to renew Alfonzo. Who's in?
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I finally got around to renewing my sponsorships and using former Mets to plug the Crane Pool. My strategy was to use UMDB's top 20 lookups so I renewed Ron Darling and added Lee Mazzilli. If you want to use this strategy, Rusty Staub is currently available for $40 and Kevin Mitchell for $56!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I picked up Dave Mlicki today, hard to believe that this June 16th will mark ten years since he pitched the game of his life against the MFY.http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/mlickda01.shtml
