Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 The Yankees last night were closing in on trading Jaret Wright to the Baltimore Orioles, a person familiar with the Yankees' plans told Newsday.Sorry Lord. I know I'm going to hell for this but I just couldn't resist.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 MFYs get that fat relief pitcher, Chris Britton, in return.Prolly a move by the O's to reunite Wright and Mazzone.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 Yanx seem to be trying to emulate the Omar strategy of deep bullpens. That's a starting OFer plus a (sometime) starting pitcher for 2 pen guys plus maybe two more future ones. For years they've gone with a sort of two-tiered pen, usually consisting of two or three real good guys up front (or at least real expensive and supposed to be good) that get leaned on heavily in close games, followed by a bunch of sacraficial lambs at the back end to only be used during blowouts.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 We need an offseason deals thread. This might be a candidate.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 The way this was originally announced (rported on radio) it sounded like the O's were giving, rather than receiving money in this deal. That doesn't sound right.Anyone hear any confirmation one way or the other?Edgy, why don't we just use the Hot Stove League thread?Works for me.Later
