Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I say Greenie.Cornelius can hit lefties. Greenie ain't hitting anyone.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I'm up for that. Cliffy in left, Endy in right.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Yup, Green can pinch hit later.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I'm willing to sit if it'll help the team.

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I sure don't want to stand all day.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I think Maine should sit.I suspect Willie's gonna go w/the same lineup. Don't over-react to one bad game from Green.Mota's prolly the only one not available (or minimally available) out of the pen.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I'd think about sitting Green and throwing Chavez in there, but I won't be too upset if Green's starting. When he's hitting (like he was just a week ago), he can handle lefties.

You think I'm judging based solely on Game 1? Or have you really not noticed a difference in the contributions from Green and Chavez this year?I won't be terribly upset if Green starts, either. But I'd go with Chavez if I was Willie. I heard Endy is a good outfielder too.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Green is terrible,he gets maybe one good hit a week.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 Rotblatt wrote:When he's hitting (like he was just a week ago), he can handle lefties.True. But when has he actually been hitting? I can only recall the last series with Washington and the doubleheader where he hit two dongs.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I see no reason to sit anybody in a championship series. They can sit all winter.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 cooby wrote:I see no reason to sit anybody in a championship series. They can sit all winter.Well, only nine guys can play at a time.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 And the rest can stand up in the dugout and watch
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 One point to cooby. But anyway, who do YOU think should play in the outfield? I swear I'll only make fun of your answer if you say to sit Beltran.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Green made a nice throw that turned out to be the key play in the game.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 A good reason to sit Chavez is so you can bring him in to pinch run and leave him in the game and all that silly stuff.

Guest cooby Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I would never sit Beltran! As long as Cliff can play, play him. And let Greenie in there.Chavez seems to have a special dispensation for playing in games two different times; that dipshit Tim Robbins saw him play before he was even put in.Maybe he could start and come out and then go back in.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Green (1-2) is one of only four Mets with a hit against Kuo, so I think that if Endy is going to play, it'd be for Floyd. But I'm not about sitting Floyd right now either. He seems to be stinging a lot of pitches from everybody.I sympathize with your desire to protect our lefty-laden lineup against lefties. I just with we had Milledge to help, or maybe a righthanded hitting option better'n' Woodward to help out at second.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I interpreted WWSB's talk with Mike & the Dog today as saying that Floyd was likely sit-ee vs. the lefty but things may have changed with that shot today. Had to be Cliff's most authoritative shot of the year.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I'm so happy for Cliff, he needed that homer today....good for him and us fans.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Green V Maddux...Career - 33 at-bats,14 hits,3 home runs 10 RBI,6 BB with 8 K's,.424 AVG.

Guest vtmet Guests Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 thanks for the link Edgy...I was looking for something like that...I would have thought that he'd do better against the power guys and worse against the guys that can do damage with their legs (I believe he's a groundball pitcher that doesn't hold runners on very well)...Looks like Reyes/Chavez have struggled, and the slower guys have done pretty well...
