Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I've been very busy of late and I fell a little behind with the polls. So I'm playing catch up now. This was the Dontrelle Wilis show. The Marlins left hander continued his history (11-2 w/ 2.01 ERA 2003-2006) of outstanding pitching performances against the Mets. He also demonstratd that he is not the typical pitcher when he steps to the plate armed with a bat. Willis went 3-4 with 2 home runs and was the offensive star of the game. Still, opposing players are not eligible to be POTG no matter how good their perfomance. What little offense the Mets were able to generate against Willis came from the top of the line up as Reyes and LoDuca were a combined 5-9 with 2 doubles. The remaining Mets hitters combined to provide 2 singles in 23 at bats. As a group, the Mets pitchers were pretty uneffective. As a tip of the hat to Dontrelle's masterful performance last night, we have a six pack of Speakeasy Untouchable Pale Ale for our POTG to share with a friend.
