MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 During the season so far, Henry Owens was mostly used for an inning at at time, and almost never (if ever) pitched two days in a row. This weekend, not only did Willie use him in consecutive games, but let him pitch two full innings yesterday. That's strange because with the ASB coming up, the bullpen would be able to get some rest after Sunday's game.Looks to me like they are auditioning him for a specific role - Heilman's?Will that free up Heilman to be used as a starter? As trade bait?Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter.(I started a separate thread because someone might want to put this in the predictions thread)Later
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I'm starting to think Heilman would be dangled as trade bait. He's been very ineffective lately but had been sought after in trades previously.
Guest KC Guests Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I can see Heilman being traded, I think he probably has that "I'm sick and tired of this freakin' organization treating me like a yo-yo" thing going on inhis head and it's contributed a lot to his suckitude. I'm not a sports head- doctor, but I play one on the internet. All that being said, what the heck isgonna fetch that is gonna light up the board the way he's looked?
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Heilman hasn't been yo-yo'd this year. They told him he was a relief pitcher and it's stayed that way.Now Heath Bell, there's a yo-yo.
Guest KC Guests Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I mean I think he'd rather be starting, or spot starting, or starting for anotherteam and not pitching long-relief or setting up or closing in non-save situations.I don't think he's been yo-yo'd, I think he thinks it about his entire team ca-reer as a Met. I'm not a sports head-doctor, but I play one on the internet.
