]Reyes said there was a large amount of blood from the wound, and that he was told he would not play on Saturday or Sunday. Currently listed as day-to-day after X-rays on the finger were negative, Reyes' status for the All-Star Game at Pittsburgh will be re-evaluated on Sunday.

]Reyes said he felt the instinct to dive head-first into the base, trying to beat out an infield hit on a ground ball to Jacobs. He said he "hopefully" would not try it again, though he naturally intends to continue sliding head-first on stolen base attempts. "When we're in the game, we don't think about it," Reyes said. "We just do it. It's tough."

I hope Wille fines him or something.

It's almost a good injury, in that it's not serious, and may teach him not to slide into first again.


But I doubt that he will learn his lesson.
