Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I made my annual pilgrimage to Coney for last night's Cyclones home opener against the SI Yanks. The Baby Bombers were up 14-0 by the 3rd.I shit you not.So when, after 2.5 hours, there was an extended delay because of an umpire's injury at the top of the 5TH INNING, i went home. 'Clones ended up losing 18-zip.An inauspicious debut, to say the least.By the way, they have an infielder named "Junior Contreras" who is listed at 6'-5"/265 lb. If that's Junior, i'd hate to meet Senior Contreras in a dark alley.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I saw on the sports news that opening day first pitch set a record for longest pitch, a 32 inch baseball that started out at Brooklyn City Hall made a 25 mile trek through Brooklyn and was delievered by the Cyclone mascot.....Vic did you see that bit of history?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 How is that a long "pitch"?Pretty loose definition, I'd say.
