Well they didn't say goodbye to Joe Torre as much as it was a goodbye playing days Joe Torre

And on this day (June 19) in 1846, Alexander Cartwright brings together the New York Nine and the Knickerbockers at a field in Hoboken for the first recorded baseball game. The Nine win, 23-1.
