Does Anyone Have Long-Lasting Milledge Enthusiasm?

Hasn't hit much yet.

One of his hits was a blooper, but his first at-bat was a rope that got caught.

That throw to nail Counsell at third (replay available in the link below) was beautiful. I can't think of another time when a speedy guy, who was running with the pitch, got thrown out on a single to right! (It was funny how they put it in the game recap that day, saying that "Counsell, clearly stunned by the play, could only shake his head and glance back towards Milledge as he returned to the dugout".) The fielding looks good.

Even if Beltran is a little overrated in center, I'm perfectly happy leaving Milledge and the cannon attached to his shoulder in rightfield. Put Nady in left next year.

I'd rather have Nady in right and Milledge in Norfolk working on hitting an outside pitch. Glad he's seeing a little MLB time, but he needs some more seasoning.

I think Milledge still needs some seasoning, but he has promise.

I agree. I was thinking more for next year, assuming Cliff leaves. I'd rather have Milledge play right and Nady play left.

I like him long time.

For the record, this thread was started after Lastings' two-out, two-run double, but before his extra-inning, game-tying home run.

i've had it for quite some time, along with Pelfrey-Promise, Soler-love, and a feeling that Heath Bell has been cheated of well deserved innings.

Should be the Mets entry for "Play of the Year." The amazing thing about it is that Counsell never even got to third base. Nine times out of ten, on a play like that it's either too late, or so close that the manager comes out to argue.

But he did miss the cutoff man. :)

I am enthusiastic that he'll be helping the team next year and beyond.

Nah, the Mets play of the year is the diving catch Endy Chavez made against the Pirates where he came out of nowhere and went hydroplaning across the outfield grass.

I agree.

The 3 best catches in the outfield Ive seen this year so far were by, in number order:
1) Aaron Rowland
2) Endy Chavez
3) Grady Sizemore

I saw a stolen homer by a centerfielder just this past week, in left center on the move, that rates right up there.
Not sure who it was. I wanna say Patterson.
