Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 This was a game worth losing a little sleep over. The game couldn't have gone much better for the Mets if Willie had scripted it out before game time. The Mets rediscovered their offense and Pedro Martinez gave a them an outstanding 7 innings of work in a game when the bullpen needed some rest. Back to back home runs by Xavier Nady and Ramon Castro in the second inning provided Pedro with all the runs he would need on a night when he was in complete control and his curve was absolutely nasty. The Mets offense continued to add insurance runs throughout the game. Delgado added a home run in the midst of his personal parade of walks. I think the Padres were afraid to pitch to him, not that I could blame them. Jorge "The Janitor" Juilo continued his resurgence as he pitched 2 shut out innings of mop up work to close out the game. He's pitched 5 scoreless innings in his last four outings, so he is hopefully turning it around. To the victors go the spoils. So I believe a case of San Diego's own Stone Brewing Arrogant Bastard Ale is in order for the POTG to share with his many deserving teammates. Someone please make sure that Jorge Julio gets to chug a few. I like his pitching better since he auditioned for the "Gone Wild" video series. Because "Fizzy yellow beer is for wussies".**Like the Padres pitchers that kept walking Delgado and Wright.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Tough break for Delgado. Blasts a HR for the 3rd consecutive game, perfect at the plate...no votes.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Nothing like a victory to bring out the voters. Still time to vote if you missed this one the first time around.
