Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 They'll supposedly know more today; like about whether it's a "pull", a "strain", a "tweak", a "cramp", etc.Early word is that it's not something that'll DL him -- but probably will push him back a bit.So one of the possible scenarios is: Game 2 Starter = Brian BannisterHe's sked to stay in Florida and pitch in an intra-squad game on Sunday but that'll likely be scrapped in order to at least keep him on track for a possible Wednesday go. Zambrano then could be pushed out until game 6 next Sunday. Trachsel could also be moved up to game 2 leaving Bannister for #4 on Friday.Lima [u:c0228cfef8]did[/u:c0228cfef8] accept a demotion to AAA so if and when a 6th starter is needed - IOW, if Zambrno's injured more than they're letting one for now - you figure he'll be the guy.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Metsblog.com reports hearing Minaya on ESPN Radio saying Bannister as the starter for game #2 on Wednesday.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Makes sense. No reason to prolong the uncertainly. Give Bannister his time to prepare, and let Zambrano go when he's ready.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Gawd-dammitt. Look, I'm happy that Bannister had a good spring. And I'm looking forward to seeing what he has.But here were my exact thoughts after we picked up Delgado."We now have a great lineup, and seven starting pitchers. As long as Omar doesn't fuck this up, we are going to have a great season."Now Brian Bannister is our starter for Game 2.Fucking Omar.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 I had forgotten for a day that there was still a question about Zambrano's health.NY Times:]Victor Zambrano threw about 55 pitches in a bullpen session and said he expected to start Sunday's game against the Florida Marlins.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
