Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2005 Author Posted October 27, 2005 So I guess this means that the FA period commences on or about November 10th** except of course for when Torre puts in a "friendly" call to BJ Ryan, explaining that he can't discuss money with him but that he can think of at least 27 million reasons why he should be a Yanqui for the next 3 years.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 And Thursday, November 10, if my math is right, will be 15 days after the end of the World Series. That would mark the date when the Mets could begin dangling money in front of Wagner, Furcal, Konerko, and whoever else they may lust for.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I'm not expecting any major deals to be announced at this week's meetings. But, as the sportswriters usually say, the GMs will be "laying the groundwork for future deals that will be announced at the Winter Meetings in December". This might be the only cliche about the GMs as a group. Can anyone think of others?Later
