Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 A $500,000 buyout is a good payday. Sad to see him go. His may be the last good Mets mullet for a while.Graves is already listed as a "potential free agent." I guess I can change all the potentials to actuals even though Graves and Anderson are the only ones to declare so far.Starting PitchersBensonGlavineMartinezSeoZambranoRelief PitchersBellHamulackHeilmanIshiiPadillaRelief PitchersCatchersInfieldersRingTakatsuTug McGraw Memorial Goofy Reliever Roster SlotCastroHietpas(CurrentlyNot on 40-Man Roster)A. I thought that $2.5 was pretty low. It seems more likely that his option would be for 7.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 This list includes Woodie. They also forgot Mike DiFelice.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Has Woodward passed six full seasons as a major leaguer? To put it another way, was he a free agent last year because he had reached six seasons, or was he non-tendered? That would matter because if he hasn't reached six years, then the Mets would still control him even if he's not under contract.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 I'd be surprised if Woodward was inked to a 2-year deal. What would have been the point in that? What is quite possible is that he's not a FA because he doesn't have his full 6 years in yet. He's played in pieces of 7 seasons but that might not add up to 6 full.*(opps - cross-posted with smg58)Trachsel's option is probably for a $2.5 minimum but could be as much as $7+ with incentives and stuff. I heard last night that he was among the early group filing for FA-gency.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 PickedUpBumpedOutTrachselRingWell, the complexities of off-season roster jugglage will soon rear it's head. Meantime, Trachsel being picked up is most immediately bad news for Zambrano, who is moved to the bullpen (at least on paper, for now), and for Bell, who is moved out (at least on paper, for now).Starting PitchersBensonGlavineMartinezSeoTrachselRelief PitchersBellHamulackHeilmanIshiiPadillaRelief PitchersCatchersInfieldersTakatsuTug McGraw Memorial Goofy Reliever Roster SlotZambranoCastroHietpas(CurrentlyNot on 40-Man Roster)A. Guest holychicken Guests Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Soler is now officially in the US which might impact our roster for next year. This is one of those players I don't know what to think about. Will he be any good? How will he compare to Contreras? What does he even look like?http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051031&content_id=32358&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp

Thanks.Googling, I learn that Keppinger and Heredia have also been removed from the DL, but nothing about Heredia's option being declined. MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 About Soler- I used Google and Yahoo search, and got lots of hits, but no specific contract terms.I think I had read that when he defected his initial deal with his old agent called for him to sign a major league contract. Since that time, he has been on the restricted list, which I think is a major league only vehicle for players already under contract. The new "official" contract he just signed is estimated at 3 years, $2.0+ million. None of the articles I found specify whether this one was a major or minor league contract. But at those bucks, his age, and the similarity with featured Cuban exile players, I would think its a major league deal. We'll know when the rosters have to be finalized prior to the Rule V Draft.Later

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 Does a player on drug suspension qualify for the Grant Roberts Memorial Roster Spot?Nahhh, maybe not.But seriously, does that player count against the 40 man roster? Can they release the player while on suspension?I have no answers to those questions.Anybody know?Later
Guest sharpie Guests Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 I'm 99% sure that a player on suspension can be released. I recall that exactly that has happened but I can't remember to who it applied.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 But this may be a unique situation. His suspension doesn't stsrt until the first 10 games of next season, so he's no "oficially" suspended until then. It could have roster implications when the Mets have to protect some youngsters from the Rule V Draft. That's why I asked.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 He's not even under contract for next season yet.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Edgy, as mentioned before, I haven't seen Woodward's name on any of the FA eligible lists. I'm not sure if this is because he signed a two year deal last year, or if he doesn't have the requisite time in the majors to be eligible for free agency. He may just be arbitration eligible, but still Met property.Do you have a source I may not have seen?Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Well, i did post a link where I thought he was, but now I'm not finding him there.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Ah, I see.The word memorial could be taken out, too, no?Eh, nevermind. It's not that important to me. Just wanted to play with the tables. How'd you get the text to wrap, BTW? If you click quote you'll be able to see the code I pirated.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Two ways to trigger a wrap. One is to put a break (br) tag everywhere you want the imaginary carriage to return. The other --- and easier --- way is to set the width of the cell to the width of the image or smaller (td width=90).Suggested Tagline:BensonRon Darling Memorial Skinny, Pretty Boy Starter Who Gets it On With Hot Women Roster Slot
