I heard on ESPN Radio this morning that Curt Schilling will share his home with a refugee family from New Orleans for one full year.
Good for him.
I hope a lot of other athletes will do the same.

Did anyone else hear this, find confirmation?

Nothing wrong with being a Red Sock.

Well, he isn't a Met, and I was unsure if this was the proper forum.

In any case, what he did (helping someone in dire need) is more important in the greater scheme of things that how I may have titled the thread.
Don't you agree?

Here's the article about this: http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2005/09/06/schilling_family_is_hosting_nine_from_new_orleans/. It's a family of nine with seven children between the ages of 7 and 12. And the Schillings aren't just throwing money at them - they're taking an active role in helping them including calling them, visiting them and naturally giving them tickets to games. In addition, this wasn't done for publicity since the Schillings didn't say a word to any member of the media about this - a reporter approached them about it. Major thumbs up to the Schillings for their generosity!

Schilling is also the one who, after 9/11, first came up with the idea of players donating one day's pay to the relief effort. If you recall, the entire Mets team followed that suggestion.

(Tangientally, Mike Stanton referred to that as a publicity stunt by the Mets, and never apologized for that statement even after becoming a Met. That's why I hate him, with the e).

Anyway, whatever flakiness Schilling might have, he always comes up with something incredible during tough times.
