Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 The Mets own the contracts of eight pitchers who have enjoyed some success as a starter in the majors (some more recently than others). Here's a game: rank the players in order from first to worst who you would like to see start Game 7 of the World Series for the Mets if it was played tomorrow (assuming everyone was on their normal rest). Or, in other words, set up an eight man rotation (or more than eight if I'm missing any.)1) Pedro2) Benson -- I think Sunday's game was just a blip on the radar.3) Seo -- I don't trust him enough to put him over Benson yet. I'm kind of still wondering if the wheels will come off.4) Glavine -- I almost put him over Seo, but I feel like he could still get shellacked on a bad day.5) Heilman6) Trachsel -- This was a hard one, maybe I'm being too optimistic that he'll come out of the gate well. He could shoot up the ranks if we play this game again in a couple of weeks.7) Zambrano8) Ishii
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Since Zambrano has already said that he would go to the bullpen, Heilmann has done well out of the pen, and Ishii should never pitch another inning for the Mets, your order looks ok to me.Later
Guest Beenso Guests Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 i agree with that list...it would def. be different assuming the list was made for october.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 if you're asking me who i want "for the future" (next year and beyond) my order would be: Pedro, Seo, Benson, Heilman, Traschel, Zambrano, Glavine, Ishit.if you're asking who i'd rather have right now for the stretch run the OP's order was right on.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 I'd put Glavine over Seo. The experience factor counts for a lot.
