It was a fun place. But for the strike, I think that it might have been successful.

I just went back and looked over my photo album. That photo was taken July 4, 1994. I remember the locker room being a disappointment, but we loved our time on hallowed ground - in the dugout and on the warning track itself. That was unbelievably cool for us.

BTW, my daughter was supposed to have her birthday party at a game that year, but the game was cancelled on account of strike. So we had the party at the Extreme Baseball park instead. She was VERY into Nickelodeon at the time, and it might well have been her best birthday ever.

The Adventures of Pete & Pete was unbelieveably cool show with special guest appearances that had to soar over the heads of even the hippest members of its target audience.

The best episode is where Little Pete hosts the "scabtalk" radio program and goes searching his favorite song. He finally performs it with a band consisting of his teacher (played by Syd Straw) and the meter-reader (Marshall Crenshaw).

In other episodes, Michael Stipe played an ice cream man and Juliana Hatfield a lunch lady.

Nickelodeon had a lot that sailed over little tykes' heads. Ren and Stimpy was NOT a show for kiddies!

I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find free "Polaris" downloads -- that was the band that played the Pete & Pete Theme Song.

I've just learned it was called "Hey Sandy" and that L'il Pete's song was called "Summerbaby" -- available on a soundtrack CD at Amazon but not on i-Tunes.

Hey smilin' strange
You're lookin' happily deranged
Could you settle to shoot me?
Or have you picked your target yet?

Hey Sandy
(ai-ai-ai-ai!)
Don't you talk back*,
(ai-ai-ai-ai!)
Hey Sandy

Four feet away
End of speech, it's the end of the day
We was only funnin'
But guiltily I thought you had it comin'

Hey Sandy
(ai-ai-ai-ai!)
Don't you talk back,
(ai-ai-ai-ai!)
Hey Sandy

*-I always thought: Does your dog bite?

Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau: Does your dog bite?
Hotel Clerk: No.
Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau bowing down to pet the dog: Nice doggie.
[Dog barks and bites Clouseau in the hand.]
Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau: I thought you said your dog did not bite!
Hotel Clerk: That is not my dog.
