Guest cooby Guests Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 And thus this thread comes full circle. You should take a glove, so you can catch that thing while everyone else is making a fool of himself
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 I can live with kids doing the wave. I can also live with kids who get into the bogus animated scoreboard races between innings. It's the adults who participate in these things who annoy the heck out of me.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Animated scoreboard races are fine, because those don't happen while action is going on. Whoop all you want, act like a moron trying to get an intern to throw you a T-shirt, whatever. But once the ball's in play, it's game on.

The "guess which hat the ball is under" still lives on.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 I meant it generically. Guess the hat is almost as banal (I'll give some credit to people who are really good at tracking where the ball is).
Guest martin Guests Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 i have been trying to catch a foul ball for decades. i almost got one at keyspan park this year but it was hit so hard i couldn't quite get to it in time and it blazed past me and hit the guys behind me. it was actually slightly scary, line drive coming right at us at a zillion miles an hour with some movement. i would like a shot at a popup. i will let the kids have the gloves and i will go barehanded, so we will be on equal footing. i have more range with my adult body, so i will handicap myself by trying to barehand em.

At least twice during the game tonight there was a "Do the Wave" graphic on the Diamondvision. DURING AN INNING!!! I couldn't believe it.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 On the glove issue:If you're an adult going by yourself, you'll look like a freaking moron if you wear a glove to a game.If you're an adult and you're going with some friends, bring your glove and stow it under your seat, so you have it there for when you fall into a drunken stupor. If you're an adult and you're bringing your kids, bring your glove and wear it with them.If you're a kid, go ahead and bring your glove.
