Guest KC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Mets technically have only one catcher until the mystery call up appears.I really wasn't aware that they can't say who until he shows up? Woodwardis the emergency catcher, who said in short pre-game interview, he'd rathernot be called into action but is ready. (paraphrasing, of course)
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Mr. Met should be the emergency catcher.Welcome back, Carlos. It would be nice to get through an August without a cascade of injuries.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Two out and a runner on second, Glavine gets behind 3-0 on Bay, who homered in the first. He goes ahead and intentionally puts him on, ending a three game walkless streak.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Jacobs wearing #27, for mbtn.com reference.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Last player to lead the league in hits for the Buccos. My first guess is Bill Madlock.Second is Johnny Ray.Third is Matty Alou circa 1969.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Beltran scored the first run from first on a single?Wow. Now he bunt singles.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 And now he steals second. How 'bout that Beltran? So they walk Floyd. With nobody out. To get to David Wright.MORONS.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 And he steals easily. And they walk Floyd. Let's hope nobody ever gets around to reading the book on Wright.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Concussion, what concussion?(a statement which can be taken one of several ways)
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 And a WP moves the runners up.Ralph suggests walking Wright.Which, if you're crazy enough to walk Floyd, isn't so crazy. As Wright drives in two with a base hit.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Andy Van Slyke, 1992. Never would have guessed him.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 OOTS: Royals have lost 18 straight with a loss in Seattle. Yowza.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 For most of his career, Andy Van Slyke was useless against lefties. His batting average split sometimes like .352/.180.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Maybe getting busted up knocked something in Carlos's head back into place.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 LLOYD: This Floyd guy is dangerous.COACH: Maybe we should walk him.COACH 2: Didn't we walk him last time?LLOYD: Yeah, because he's dangerous.COACH 2: Who's on deck?LLOYD: Some Wright guy. Young kid. We can get him.COACH: Yeah, good plan.COACH 2: Yeah, good plan.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Wow. McClendon has no clue what he's doing.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Kris Benson may be saying the same thing right now.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Diaz - in the span of less than a week since his callup - has had a 2 HR game, a 3-K game, several GiDPs, plus a 9th inning check-swing groundout w/tieing run on 3rd and 1 out. And in his early season stint had a few weeks where he was hitting .400+, followed by several weeks of sub-.200 hitting.Isn't this the kind of feast/famine complaints that fans have about Cameron?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Yeah, but Cameron was mailing it in.Another bad call by Angel Hernandez burns Reyes. On the other hand, it was closer, on replay, than I thought.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 This'll be a save --- or hold --- situation for Heilman, with the tying run on deck.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I much prefer the Spanish broadcasts. I don't get annoyed with them, but I never have a problem following the games.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Beltran should steal and see if they walk Floyd again.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 FSNY is broadcasting in Spanish tonight.MSG is English.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 The Mets have Graves and Looper up in the pen.I guess they're expecting this to be easy... or hard.
