Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 There's nothing in papers about his last-minute callup, but The Virginian-Pilot just happened to run this nice profile shortly before his promotion. He's unlikely to have any relation to Vicente Padilla, so stop thinking that, as he was born in Puerto Rico and Vicente in Nicaragua. He was sprung from the town of Rio Piedras, the same lugar de nacimiento that gave us Jose Oquendo, Rey Sanchez, Tito Navarro, and Pedro Feliciano. But he grew up in Levittown. Who knew that there was a Levittown in Puerto Rico? He's college educated and went to visual arts school. Pretty interesting, that. His wife is named Ericka.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 And he looks dapper on the mound, are those shades or glasses he wears?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 He was stylin in those shades. The matchup of Padilla v. Andruw Jones was like a commercial for Sunglass Hut.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 The Blue Jays' Gustavo Chacin leads the league in stylin shade performance this year.
Guest 86-Dreamer Guests Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 hopefully he will get better treatment than Jose Parra did last year. IIRC, Parra similarly excelled as Norfolk closer, looked pretty good for the Mets in July as he increased his role from mop-up to setup, and then was sent to DL with a very questionable injury (stiffness in hip caused by sleeping too close to an air conditioner) to make room for Scott friggn' Erickson. He then suffered a real injury to his pitching arm while rehabbing in the low minors and has not been heard from since.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Parra was released at the end of the season. I was thinking about him relating to Padilla also.
