Guest SI Metman Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 All you Cranepoolers get to see a new Mets lineup todayCammyBeltranCliffPiazza AndersonWrightReyesWoodyIshiiThe OF went 1-2-3 in the top of the inningFXH is making a special holiday appearance on WPIX with Seaver and Hernandez.
Guest SI Metman Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Mets waste a 1 out double by Marlon Anderson, Ishii working his way into trouble in the bottom of the inning.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Looks like it's you and me today, SI. 2-0 Bad Guys in the bottom of the sixth as the Nats chase Ishii. The CPF mojo is not working today.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Heath Bell comes in, gets two outs, and we go to the seventh down 2-0.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 As we go to the top of the seventh, opposing pitchers in the last 18 innings:5 H3 BB16 KFugly.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Single by Anderson and a nice double down the left field line by Wright puts runners at 2nd and 3rd with noooooooobody out and Luis Ayala coming into the game. COME ON, Metsies.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Keith Hernandez calls the Nats the "Senators." You're not that old, Keith, are you? Yikes.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Heads-up play by David Wright, who stays in a rundown long enough to allow Reyes to sneak into third base behind him. So the Nats get an out, but rather than first and second, they get first and third.Woodward could have made it to second easily, but he pulls up lame at first and is removed for Gerald Williams. So what could have been a good play winds up leaving guys at the same bases.Daubach up to pinch-hit for Bell.I smell a double play.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Daubach Ks, but leadoff hitter Cameron drives in seventh-hitter Reyes tying up the game at 2.Nice job with the lineup, Willie.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 thank you cameron!I heard a lets go mets chant this inning. . .you think it was our fellow CPFers?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 GET A HIT IN A BIG SPOT, CARLOS!Dammit.2-2.GET UP and stretch.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Yeah, my patiences with Beltran is slowly slipping away.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Carlos Baerga is wearing sunglesses at bat. It looks odd to me for some reason.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Matt Cepicky is already the 44th player the Nationals have used this season. The record for a full season is 59 (I think). How the hell is this team in first place? Dammit.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Speedy Reyes with an infield single. . . 1 out
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Reyes steals second, which causes SS Jamey Carroll to shadow him, which opens up a slight hole on the left side... which Jose Offerman whacks a single through, scoring Reyes. Nice AB by Offerman.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Damn, missed it. . . putting beer in the fridge. . stupid beer.ohh. . .I can't stay mad at beer!HOORAY BEER!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 A Duff point for Offerman, two for Jose.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 HOORAY CAMERON!!!RBI double 4-2, good guys.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Nice, Cameron turning the single into a double turns into a run on Beltran's single.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 And the mets win!!!10 Schaeffer points for the CPFers in the crowd who cheered them on to victory!
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 And just like that, it's over. That was a good W. Came back, hustled, got clutch hits, tacked on insurance runs... very nice.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I e-mailed SK's handheld, thanking them for providing the good mojo. Perhaps we should have a Schaefer CPOTG (Crane Pooler Of The Game) for this one as well.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Looper closes out a game without first giving me minor cardiac arrest. Yay
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Hey, OO. I don't think you were properly welcomed. So... welcome aBordick.edit: HOLY crap I'm Mike Bordick just as I post that. FREAKY.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Welcome Olerud, cool pic, great game for the CPF crew to watch, had to have been a lot of fun to be at the game. From the AP..]Attendance was 44,331, just short of a sellout. The Nationals said it was the biggest crowd of the season because the 45,596 announced at the home opener has since been adjusted to 43,861.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 This was a fine, fine day.If you want a Cranepooler of the Day, let me nominate the soon to be registered Mini Knight. He scored the game, cheered his heart out, and was the only one wearing a rally hat in the top of the 9th <g>We met at the hotel this morning and caravaned over to RFK. ABG stopped by and said hi, my cousin found us, and a great tailgate party was held (pictures will come eventually) and we headed into the ballpark. We were greeted with Mets Suck shirts for sale and a M-E-T-S Suck Suck Suck chant. WTF? Washington gets a team, it does well, and all they could do is dis us? Ridiculous. We make it to our seats before the first pitch. At one point, between innings, D-Dad and Mini Knight hold up a Mets banner. Screech, the obese Nationals mascot, shoves Mini Knight around and karate chops the banner. Luckily, the kid can handle himself. The long suffering Nationals fans cheered every routine play as if it was the web gem of all time. And I don't think that Sweet Caroline is so clever.Fortunately, the Mets did come back, and the Nationals fans ate crow. Revenge is a dish best served cold ;) I thought we were doomed when Seawolf e-mailed us with congratulations right before Reyes booted that ball, but luckily for him the rest of the inning was uneventful ;)Then we headed back to the hotel (almost losing the Rockin Doc portion of our caravan, which included my daughter, but luckily he found us!), showered quickly, and headed to dinner in Georgetown followed by a truly spectacular fireworks show. One last drink in the hotel and the day was done.Despite my teasing of Seawolf, it was nice hearing from him (and cooby and lubitul) during the game :)Most of the crew is heading home tomorrow, but the Diamond Knight family will be there to see Pedro tomorrow. I will, of course, wear my Vote for Pedro shirt :)Road trips are fun - you should all join us next time!
Guest SwitchHitter Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 ScarletKnight41 wrote:Road trips are fun - you should all join us next time!Well, I can't help but notice that y'alls team will be visiting my ballpark the end of this month. C'mon down! Watch us throw monopoly money at your CFer! I can promise no M-E-T-S suck suck suck chanting.(j/k about the monopoly money. I was planning on it, but then our CFer is doing so well that instead we're bringing a sign that says, "Carlos who? Our CFer is #1!" because that's his jersey #.)
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 "Reyes steals second, which causes SS Jamey Carroll to shadow him, which opens up a slight hole on the left side... which Jose Offerman whacks a single through, scoring Reyes."This was a hidden big play, as was Cameron getting second on that hit up the middle. Official scorer called it a double. What was that about? We were frustrated with Patterson, but it was Leiter-esque dominance. -- a few hits, a few walks, and a lot of full counts, and he was up at about 100 pitches after five. Even Reyes, perhaps chastened by his demotion, went with an eight-pitch at bat on his first trip to the plate. Dickshot said we'd get to Patterson the third trip through the lineup, and we did.How 'bout that old-school abuser Frank Robinson? He not only let Patterson throw 116, but Sunny Kim threw 44 pitches and nobody got up in the pen at all. Eischen, the only lefty in the pen, stayed seated through two Daubach at-bats.Oh, and Mike Piazza had one of the hardest 0-4's you'll ever see.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
