Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 The Rankings forum has been restored. Cooby is on to something that may be helping to restore threads without waiting for ez. I need to check it out.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 It's tedious as heck, but IDK, it seems to work
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 What the mysterious and powerful force that is Cooby has done.Ms. Cooby discovered this thread: this thread. In it, about halfway down, Rebel4Clay (an American Idol fan?) announces, largely ignored, how he's resurrected dead threads. You click on a living one, say "GDF: Star Wars names" in our "Sal's MOFo Archives" forum. That thread comes up, and the URL appears in the address bar on your browser:http://p079.ezboard.com/fthecranepoolforumfrm8.showMessage?topicID=37.topicThat last part of the URL is a topic-specific ID number: "topicID=37.topic"So Clay and Cooby have discovered that if you just change those numbers in your addres bar -- "topicID=38.topic"; "topicID=39.topic" -- new topics (lost topics) will appear. You put a reply in the threads of those lost topics, and it stays appeared. Number 39 was "Busted electronics, and I "saved" it.Now, the question is, am I making things worse by doing that? And should I be moving anything that lives to a new shadow forum, as some have done, or anything that is complete, but not the threads with unrecovered posts in them?
Guest KC Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I find the preoccupation with ezboard a little frustrating. I can't get admins toanswer emails, but they have time to fuss with a board that died a couple ofweeks ago.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Eh, just bored with the game, that's all...
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I haven't gotten emails from you KC, or I'd reply.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Sorry, I should have been more specific. Edge and I had a little communicationbreakdown. We've since kissed and made up, er, for lack of better wording.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 That's okay, we all know how Edgy's trying to maintain his gay icon status.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 The good news is that more threads in the Adopt a Prospect forum have appeared. The bad news is that, save for the first posts, the rest of the posts are still blank :(
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Any word on whether the missing posts in restored threads will ever be restored?
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 They seem to be sidesteppng that question
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 That's a pretty big issue to sidestep. The whole Adopt-a-Prospect forum is in question.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I know. People are asking it left and right and I keep checking but I never see an answer from an official person, just more people gnashing their teeth
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 FWIW, I went to ezBoard to check on things, and it's as friggin' slow as ever. Even slower.I don't miss that place. Not at all.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Damn - I just went to check things out, and the recently restored Adopt a Prospect threads are missing again.I'm glad that I copied what I did from the Joe Hietpas and Brad Cresse threads last night.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Bad news for Brad and Joe:Q. Many replies on my board say "This post is missing and cannot be restored", can it be restored?A. Unfortunately no, it cannot be restored.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Kole also loses out here. This confirms all of the worst thoughts I've ever had about ezBoard. This kind of massive, permanent loss is indefinsible.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Scarlett I dug around and found Joe and Brad, but all that is left is the first post, though the Brad collage is nice
