Cairo's out.

Appeared to tweak the hammy.

Keppinger time, perhaps.

Singles by Piazza and Anderson and the Mets have a gen-u-ine threat.

Calero coming on with no outs and Astro Avenue behind him.

the fear of Wright has struck oakland, as they have gone to the bullpen!

whats with this earthquake thing? will the tsunami wipe out half the Mets roster?
it ain't called the Coliseum for nothing....let it flood and fill it with vicious man-eating animals!!

Bases loaded.....Diaz at the plate with the stopper Street coming in, I mean Street has to issue a walk right?

Locked and loaded, and the closer comes in with one out in the eighth inning.

Let's go, Vick!

Victor Diaz has been quietly DPing at a Bonoesque rate this year.

Here's more news. How far away is the Collesium from the Bay?

Major quake strikes off California coast

June 14, 2005

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. --A major earthquake struck Tuesday night about 80 miles off the coast of northern California, prompting a tsunami warning along the Pacific coast.

The 7.0-magnitude quake struck at about 7:50 p.m. southwest of the coastal community of Crescent City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Web site.

A tsunami warning was in effect from the California-Mexico border north to Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Residents were being evacuated from low-lying areas of Crescent City, KCBS radio reported.

when did the Mets drop to 8th in homers? they were first recently werent they?

this road trip could end the season as the teams in our division are finally hot and going 2-4 out west then losing 2-3 to the yankees could turn this into a rebuilding year in a hurry.

Which would suck short-term, but might not be so bad in the long run . . .

I'm going on record as saying that we're too banged up. We need to put some peeps on the DL, call up Daubach and maybe Keppinger and let our bench do some work while Beltran gets healthy. And Cairo too, I suppose. Beltran sounds like a liability out there. Who's our back-up center fielder if neither he nor Cam can go? Is it Anderson?

As for the home run thing, we were in third or fourth going into our homestand, then a combination of Shea and injuries dropped us down. Mostly Shea, IMO.

Diaz tells Newsday he's ready to play 1B .... NOW!!!!

WWSB suggests otherwise.

At least it was a quick game

This is abasloutely my wound-licking imagination talking, but I fear that Diaz is a lesser hitter without more at-bats.

Could Diaz be much more of a liability at first than in right?

He's not an option at 1st now, since Cameron can't play. I'd rather see us play Diaz in the outfield at least until one of Beltran or Cameron is at least 90% healthy. In the meantime, let's keep giving him practice there--maybe sub him in late in a laugher or something, in addition to taking ground balls.

I think he definitely needs at bats, though. When's the last time he got more than 1 at bat in a game?

He played both ends of the doubleheader against the Giants.

Last night sucked.

Decent Met fan turnout, far more than I thought there was going to be. The BART train to the park had me and myself for Met fans.

Some cool people came out though. Lots of Seaver and Dykstra jerseys, heh.

You could really see how many infernal bandwagoners infect Oakland when the Red Sox and Yankees come, though, since the Metsian presence was nowhere near what the Sox and Yanks get, and I doubt that there's more New Englanders out here than New Yorkers, and I doubt that there's somehow a 90/10 split of Yankees/Mets fans of those who have come here.

Then again, as a nutjob Red Sox fan I knew this. That hat's new, you're not from New England, you're not from New England, you bought that yesterday, it's Papi not Papa, etc. etc.
