soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Use this thread to state to, or ask of, your brethren if your/their plans include attending the Mets tilt on that particular date.So besides me who's going tonight?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Feel sorry for ya.On Friday nite, come over to the front row box of Mezz 22 and say hi. It's my bday so the least you can do is bring beer or maybe some beef jerky or something.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 A birthday and anniversary on the same weekend? You're going to have a lot of celebrating to do - have a good one!
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2005 Author Posted June 10, 2005 Well, I had fun anyway.Highlight of the night was the Wright ding-dong.I scored the game for the first time in years. Forgot how much fun that was.Couldn't believe they had the attendance at 30,000+. For a Thursday against a bad club. Not bad.Left after the tenth when it was 3-3 so the loss cannot be pinned on me and I was well on my way to Connecticut before the dam burst.FYI: If you are holding tickets to a game that was rained-out and want to cash them in, they no longer give cash. They will credit your card or mail you a check. This suxx because whenever I have had tix to games that were cancelled I would bring them with me to the next game I'd attend, cash them in and use the fundage for eats and drinks.Don't dig the new policy.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 I'll bet you had a big snack when you got home then
Guest sharpie Guests Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 I'll be at Sunday's game along with about 5,000 kids and parents. I get to stand on the field during the Star Spangled Banner along with my son's baseball team (and every other team that plays in Prospect Park). Be sure to look for me, I'll be with the team that has uniforms that look sort of like the Reds. I'm excited about being in a packed stadium looking at it from an on-the-field perspective.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2005 Author Posted June 10, 2005 Sausage and peppers at the game and a midnight snack (and then some) after I got home.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 I love scoring the game... I have a stack of Mets programs with filled-in scorecards from every game I've attended in the past 8 years. That's only a few dozen, but still. I taught my wife how to do it as well, and she faithfully fills in the squares, although her style is a lot different than mine.Maybe if y'all are good, I'll scan my "10-run 8th inning' scorecard and post it. What a game that was.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 ]Left after the tenth when it was 3-3 so the loss cannot be pinned on me and I was well on my way to Connecticut before the dam burst. Unless one surmises that they lost because you left.Captain, indeed. What was I thinking?
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Unless one surmises that they lost because you leftI think that is exactly what happened and he is trying to deflect the guilt. Instead, he drew attention to it.Typical criminal behavior.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 We're going Sunday. If I can, I'll go over behind home plate on the mezz whenthe 5000 kids are all on the field and see if I can get a good full field photo ortwo for you Cal. Enjoy.

Guest sharpie Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 KC, just saw this. Did you get pix? I was the one with the hat.

Guest sharpie Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Thanks, Kase. I'm with the kids in red in front of the Geico sign or maybe with the people in red gawking at Pedro. I wasn't wearing red but the kids were.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Here's the other one I have from down that end.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 It's so weird to think of KC on the first-base side.I caught the Portland Seadogs at the Bowie Baysox Friday night. It was simultaneously Tennis Ball Mayhem Night, Fireworks Night, and Boy Scout Sleepover Night. Peter Bergeron says hello.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 These are from behind home plate but with some zoom. My new Sun seatsare still on the third base side but in the reserves.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Is a "Pupose" one of those things Indians carry around their babies in?
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 No idea what you're talking about...
Guest holychicken Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 I am going to the red sox game tongiht. . .cheap 12 dollar upper bleacher seats!Sweeeet. Hope it doesn't rain.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 H-Chick, that'll be the 1975 World Series rematch. Maybe Carlton Fisk will be there. The Red Sox are rematching against several World Series opponents this season: Cardinals (1946, 1967, 2004), Cubs (1918), Reds (1975), Pirates - arrr (1903), and Phillies (1915). Almost makes interleague play interesting. Almost.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Soupy--Some admin, in blatent violation of the "Never fix a typo that someone has called out without acknowledging the editing job" rule, has changed the title of this thread from "All-Pupose..." to "All-Purpose...", thus making me look like an idiot.I mean, I give such an easy target by behaving like an idiot constantly, it's not like anyone needs to jump on this occasion.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Um, that was me.It seems that either I have administrator capabilities or any dumb schmuck can edit a thread title.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 WP,They are naming the left field foul pole "Fisk's pole" today in a short pregame ceremony.I think it is kind of cheesy to officially name a pole something. . .pesky;s kind of just caught on. . .but this is lame.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Wouldn't "Pudge's Pole" at least have some sort of alliterative charm?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Not as clever either.Pudge's Pole or the Fisky Pole would've been better.
