Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20 Posted April 20 SGotI named Franklin Benedict is going around tracing the downfall of the Costearndoza Mets to the day Brian Wilson died. I'm not one to endorse the idea of curses, as there are certainly enough reasons that things go to shit as observed through the lens of rationality. But if there is such a thing, I tend to agree that this is enough of an insult to the universe to bring a curse about. That said, in my brief search for accounts of that day, I was only able to find one or two accounts of "I Get Around" being featured over the Citi Field PA. So maybe this guy is full of it, and the Mets failures' are due only to sensible, baseball reasons, like not signing any utility infielders with hit records.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 20 Posted April 20 The Curse no one is talking about is that I went to the game on June 12th that Senga hurt himself and the Mets hung on to win 4-3. The game that made them 45-24 and the peak of the season. I had more to do with it than Brian Wilson. Was it my Alvarez jersey? Was it my t-shirt that says 'I can survive anything. I'm a Mets fan.'? Did I exhale too forcefully that I created a breeze that kicked off a domino effect that led Alonso to throw behind Senga? By the way, there were a couple of Beach Boy songs played early that day, not just Kokomo.
