The important thing is that I will be able to keep my eye on Mets assets so they do not disappear while I have my head literally in an oven.

We called in this sweet Nigerian-American immigrant guy who has fixed our dryer and our fridge before. At least, he is sweet when he isn't berating his cousin/apprentice for not following his instructions better. It turned out that it wasn't my fault, and the hinge mounting bracket had been installed upside down — possibly at the factory, possibly during some hasty assembly before we bought the house.

He is planning on leaving this weekend to fly back to Abuja and introduce his mother to the grandchildren she has never met in person. I told him that I hoped he avoided the thugs. He thought I was listening to too much propaganda and he assured me he wasn't afraid of Nigerian street criminals, and I told him that, no, I meant the American thugs grabbing documented immigrants in travel and not allowing them back home.

I felt like **** (and the look from my wife said I should have felt like ****), filling his head with such a horrific scenario. He said he'd be fine. He's been here 25 years, so where are they going to send him? I kept my mouth shut and prayed.

Anyhow, no Mets assets have been lost since the repair was effected.
