Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 Luisangel Acuña is pouring it on to the tune of .276 / .427 / .553 // .980 in The Venezuelan Winter League, despite taking a vicious beaning off the forearm last week. Those numbers represent 96 plate appearances.[FIMG=550]https://pxcdn.meridiano.net/122024/1734383526024.jpg?&cw=1200&ch=630[/FIMG]
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 I saw a tweet that Hayden Senger is raking too. And I’m totally happy for him but I think this tells us a little about the quality of baseball being played there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 1, 2025 Author Posted December 1, 2025 Hayden is in the Dominican, which certainly has a higher standard of play than the VWL, but he has had only 13 trips to the plate.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Luisangel Acuña is pouring it on to the tune of .276 / .427 / .553 // .980 in The Venezuelan Winter League, ... hose numbers represent 96 plate appearances. Now up to 174 plate appearances and a .282/.397/.542 slash line and I'm not sure whether or not those stats have been updated to include Saturday's Four HR game.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 11 Posted January 11 The video I saw had his stats during his first homer. His BA was .188.I'm not going to get too excited about this. other than saying "good game".Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 Unless he went something like 17 for 17, it would be impossible to climb from .188 to .282 in a single game 142 at-bats into the season. What you saw was not his batting average on the season, but his batting average for the post-season — a much smaller sample size.It was, of course, an historically good one.
