Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2025 Author Posted December 23, 2025 I've begun the transfer process to the new owner. I don't know how long it will take to complete, nor what it will look like on the other side. Right now the site is in its purple-and-grey City Connect color scheme. I'll keep that in place for as long as it's in my control. If you visit the site and it doesn't look purple-and-grey, then you'll know that the new administration has begun.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 And I see the old CPF is gone, I was just curious after reading your post above
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 I've begun the transfer process to the new owner. There was a delay on the other end over the holidays, but the transfer has now been accepted by the new owner. I'll still have custody of the UMDB through at least Monday afternoon, but at any point after that, it will be in its new hands. After 27 years, I will be officially done. I feel a very very very slight feeling of wistfulness, but no regrets at all. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new administration does with the site. I expect that months from now it will look very different.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I saw your last post on the site, bittersweet I'm sure, curious to see the changes
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Well, the transfer is complete. The domain is no longer mine.I'm still seeing my version of the site but that should soon change as the transfer propagates over the various servers.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Thank you Ben for everything! And…for saving our forum ❤️
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 You're welcome!I was probably more of a savior back in 2018 when the forum moved to ultimatemets.com. This time around, Edgy MD deserves a big chunk of the credit for providing our current domain.I'd also, while I'm here, like to thank KC again for playing matchmaker and helping to find the UMDB its new home.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Posted January 16 https://ultimatemets.com/New version is up and running, although a work in progress
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 It feels very strange to me to see that. I had thought that it would come up in its original state while the changes were being made behind the scenes. I have no stake in the site anymore, and no say in what happens, so Que Sera, Sera.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Posted January 16 It feels very strange to me to see that. I had thought that it would come up in its original state while the changes were being made behind the scenes. I have no stake in the site anymore, and no say in what happens, so Que Sera, Sera. Went to it last night (to confirm if any Mets besides Michael and Ashford were named Tucker) knowing it was supposed to change over this week. Practically fainted from culture shock.Good luck to the parking lot. At the moment, it appears they paved paradise.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 I don't want to undermine the new guy, but here's a secret: https://leaptoad.com/ultimatemets.com
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Oh, will this link always work ? I won't be sharing it or anything, just for reference
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 That remains to be seen. It depends on how the new site shapes up. If I want to continue to use the old site for my own purposes I'll keep it up. I can easily paste the player stats once a week or so. I won't be doing box scores or other stuff. But we'll see what happens.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Not hopeful about the new site. Giving off watered-down, 2020s schlock vibes so far.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 I do wonder what kind of feedback they're getting, if any. I no longer have access to the email box, so I have no idea.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I deleted my old link…can someone share it?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 The old version of the site survives (with some broken image links) at https://leaptoad.com/ultimatemets.comWe'll see what becomes of that. If it looks like a more viable resource (to me and those of us here who want to use it) than the new site then maybe I'll keep it going, with minimal updates.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 16 Posted January 16 The new site has (or is going to have) a forum!!!!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Please keep that archive. It is a gold mine. Especially the fan memories.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 I'll keep it for the foreseeable future. I may change the URL. If so I'll post it here. Maybe I'll rebrand it as Ultimate Mets Classic? Or something else? Suggestions welcome.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 For future reference: UMDB Classic can be found at https://leaptoad.com/metsI'll probably keep it updated, but at a much smaller scale. I'll update the stats, but just for the big-league team. Not the minor leaguers. I'll enter game results, but no box scores. No transactions. No player-of-the-week etc. awards. No updating the other teams that Mets players have played for. Probably won't keep track of coaches either. Maybe I'll stick with the necrology. This is mainly just for me, as the UMDB was when I first created it way back when in its initial simple form. But that doesn't mean I can't share it with the CPF. But it's not intended for the general public. If you notice any broken links, let me know and I'll fix them when I get a chance.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I'm a little disappointed with the generic Word Press interface. Oy. But it's the info that matters, not the GUI so we will see. Seems a good start...
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 26 Author Posted January 26 I had thought that the plan was to bring it up as is, a functioning but "dated" website. I was definitely surprised to see how vapid it currently is, and the stock photos of softball players doesn't leave a great impression either. But I decided I was going to let go, and so I have. When I want to look something up for my own curiosity, I can use the legacy link that I shared above.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted January 26 Posted January 26 This looks like a casual fans Blogspot or Xanga from 2006, lol. The worst part is, there's a whole team of "professionals" behind it: https://ultimatemets.com/about-us/
Elian Pena St. Lucie Mets - A SS In St. Lucie's Wednesday doubleheader, the 18-year-old shortstop went 3-for-7 with a walk and his 7th and 8th doubles. He's hitting .346/.460/.481 (.941). Also 8 steals in 9 attempts. Explore Elian Pena News >
