From June to June, specifically from last June 13th through this June 12th, the Mets had a won- lost record of 104 wins and 60 losses.

How is it possible for one team to be so dominant over what is more than a complete season and be so utterly inept in the remaining games??

Same team, same manager, same approach. Are they just ****ing with our heads? Mine is about ready to essplode

Luck comes in streaks sometimes? This is consistent as an explanation. They are very lucky and very unlucky.

Makes more sense to me than "They're good at playing baseball then they forget how to play baseball."

The starting pitching collapsed. Canning got hurt. Megill got hurt. Senga got hurt. The number of innings caught up to Holmes. Senga returned, but poorly. Manaea and Montas came along and failed. Short outings by starters overworked the bullpen and their performance then suffered as well. It's really no mystery what happened.

There are skills that are less streaky or luck-dependent, and an organization that leads into the development and acquisition of those skill could theoretically be more successful, or at least more consistently performing around their level of success.

OK, that explains from this June going forward.

Now try last June going backward. Completely different set of problems, requiring a whole different set of rational excuses.

This, and it is the Mets we're talking about

I would call it "Mets Mythology"

It's a subjective "what do you believe in" or not call

It's by no means all negative. There are positive themes also, The Amazin Mets comes to mind. In my opinion anyway

and Lockhart*

* Lockhart, who appeared in a 1938 film version of 'A Christmas Carol' opposite her parents (that's 87 years ago for those keeping score), is still kicking three months after turning the odometer to 100. Her Two stars on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame (one for movies, one for television) were placed there 65 years ago.
