Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 It also shouldn't go uncommented upon that we have two, count 'em TWO, non-solo HRs today!!I think that raises our total of multi-run HRs in the past month to two.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Pete Alonso is a certified Mets legend.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Glad that I was able to see it happen live on TV. I've missed much of the last two weeks due to terribleness.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 And the pattern continues: 16 batters faced, half of them reached base, and 67 pitches (and counting) just to get 10 outs
Bob Alpacadaca Verified Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 We're gonna need more multi-run homers to get through this. Or yank Holmes soon.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Mets starters just flat out suck
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 [CROSSOUT]16[/CROSSOUT] 18 batters faced, [CROSSOUT]half[/CROSSOUT] TEN of them reached base, [CROSSOUT]67[/CROSSOUT] 76 pitches (and counting) just to get 10 outs
Bob Alpacadaca Verified Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 A LOT more multi-run homers.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Way to go Mendoza, you left Holmes in for "one more batter"Boo
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 (edited) You can't keep living like this and expect to win. Holmes faced 20 batters and retired nine. This is why I never felt secure even with the 5-0 lead the other day*. And today it was 5-1 and that doesn't even last a single inning.* the only time I briefly felt OK was after Tyler Rogers got an inning-ending GiDP in the 7th. I thought we had dodged it, but we didn't.btw, we also never got another hit after Pete's RBI bloop in the 4th of that game so don't think it can't happen again. Edited August 13, 2025 by Frayed Knot
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Plenty of time to draw more blood.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 They are just squeaking by with Peterson Senga and Manaea as it isThis needs to be fixed, if possible, or the Mets may miss the tournament
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 A slider from Strider is good for rider.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Bunt hits are golden. I don't usually love them with bases empty and two outs from your #3 hitter. But in front of Soto it's more justifiable and, in this case, it certainly paid off.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Hey, Lindor is the leadoff hitter. And with the rate the Mets are stealing and the rate of Soto hits going for extra-bases, I say you take what you are given.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Soto and McNeil are the only guys not in the hit column.Pour it on.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 [FIMG=400]https://cdn.theasc.com/Butch-Cassidy-Newman-and-Redford.jpg[/FIMG]Ten runs? Hits with runners in scoring position? HRs with runners on base? All runs scoring after two outs?Who are those guys?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Maybe Lindor is still in pain from the foot issue. He's too good to be this ineffective
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 [FIMG=400]https://cdn.theasc.com/Butch-Cassidy-Newman-and-Redford.jpg[/FIMG]Ten runs? Hits with runners in scoring position? HRs with runners on base? All runs scoring after two outs?Who are those guys? Still only two walks. No big deal, obviously, but they will need those when the hits dry up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Still only two walks. More worrying is that they've issued six, which seemingly is their nightly average lately.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Yes, outwalking the other side is what winning teams do.But not tonight, as the Mets hit two more.
Bob Alpacadaca Verified Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 This is better. All with two outs.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 The Braves need to re-acquire Luís Guillorme to pitch the rest of the way.
