Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 2 Posted October 2 The final entry in the four game slate scheduled for Saturday October 3rd will be on not FOX but FS1 at 8:30 EDT (7:30 local) Padres will throw (not literally) lefty Robbie Ray at the Brewers who was a deadline pickup from SFG. The 35 (yesterday) y/o has had some nice seasons in his 13 year career but a 5.02 ERA/1.53 WHIP in his 9 games since the trade to Sandy Eggo Brewers counter with 'Les Mis', aka: Jacob Misiorowki and his consistent 100+ heat, his likely CY award, and his 1.80 ERA which is just a statistical rounding error from being half what Ray is sporting (3.59) this season. Regular season: Brewers (103 wins) 2 - Padres (91) 4
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 I doubt I'm gong to stay up for this one, but the Padres got to Les Mis for 2 runs on 4 hits in top of the 2nd.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 A wacko ending which I was no longer up to see: 3 - 2 Brewers / one out top 9th / runner on 1st: a long drive down the LF line by SDP's Ty France strikes a cable up near the ceiling and drops right to the LF'er for the second out. Apparently the ground rules state that if it hits something on or near the roof while in fair territory then the ball is in play. Opinions vary as to whether this ball was fair of foul when it hit and as to whether it was going to stay fair (2R HR) or foul (strike one) if it didn't. Two pitches later, Jackson Merrill flied out (deep RCF) to end the game. Trevor Megill with the gutty/lucky save: K of Tatis w/2 on to end the 8th. Then in the 9th: single. K (Machado), FO (wire), FO Game two at 4 PM today on FS1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 4 Posted October 4 The ball certainly changed directions. Have no idea if they can project the path it would have taken if it didn’t hit. Domed baseball sucks.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4 Posted October 4 What a finish in Milwaukee, bases loaded with Brewers , 2 out ,2 strikes and Miller throwing heat, Chourio gets the hit and scores two, Brewers win 4-3
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 Once again, baseball is such dull game.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Right? The walk by Gary Sanchez was huge, I have a vague memory of him being on the Mets ?

Did you hear the audio of Game One's pre-game meeting at the plate? The umps brought up and outlined the ground rules including the ball hitting the girders or cables and such. Then the Brewer coach who brought out the lineup card chimed in with, 'I've been here six years and have never seen any of that ... so we'll probably see it tonight.'
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Just saw the highlights of this one. I wonder if there is spirited debate among Padres fans that Mason Miller puts up good numbers but can’t get the job done in big spots.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Gametime Mason Miller goes on paternity leave So he did get the job done hopefully in not too big a spot Brock Beauchamp 1
