Cubs pitcher is currently list as TBA. Padres counter with former Yanx reliever turned good starter Clay Holmes Michael King: 32 starts, 3.21 ERA / 1.18 WHIP
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 14 Posted October 14 The Cubs gave up Jefferson Rojas in order to arm up for this series.

They got depth in exchange (Holmes and Taylor) and not, say, a top-of-the-line starter who would have absolutely started game 1. To me, the moves the Cubs made are moves one makes to make a run at the division title possible, and to insure they got the playoffs in the first place.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Well, if you wanna be picky, they were arming up for a potential deep run into October, not specifically for the Wild Card Series. But it was also for the initial goal of merely getting to October, and at least they did that. That's more than the 2021 Mets achieved when they traded Crow-Armstrong for Baez.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Yeah, that's clearer. I should have more accurately stated that the Cubs gave up Rojas to arm up for glory and all they got was this series.
