A bit late with the TWiB thread this week ... but that's OK as we needed all our concentration turned towards the Phils series, or at least whatever concentration we had left after being bulldozed by the breaking Travis & Taylor news.

Anyway, the current #1 NL WC Cubs hadn't been swept in a series all season but the Giants just walked them off in a day game in SF to complete a three-game broom job.

So that drops them to 2.0 G over #2 WC SDP and 3.5 over the Mets going into tonight's action. Cubs go to Denver for a three game set starting Friday.

- Padres are off today before playing a weekend set in Minnesota

- Cincy, 4.5 behind the Mets as their closest pursuer, also off today and will host the Cardinals starting Friday

- Phils do play today as they start a four game home series vs Atlanta culminating with the game on ESPN/SNB

That 4x4 night by Schwarber is impressive as hell, but they keep talking in the booth about how cold he had been.

He seemed like he was on that whole series against the Mets. If he didn't get any hits, it isn't that he wasn't swinging well.

It's their 'City Connect' version for this year. And it's not just green but 'Fenway Green'

The shade which matches their famous LF wall is a registered color under that name.

Braves lost to Philly.

Cincinnati lost in 10 with the clown car rules.

Minnesota has a big lead over San Diego, so Mets may well end the day +5 ahead of Cincinnati but also only 2 behind San Diego for the #5 seed.

Going to the clown car rules in Philly. Tied 1-1 after 9

Long-haired Matt Strahm facing the bottom of the Braves order.

Line-out (nice play by Harper) - RBI Single - Fly Out - Fly Out (Acuna)

2-1 Braves, heading to bottom 10

Righty Hunter Stratton on for Atlanta, 6-7-8 due up, ghost runner = Bohm: 1st pitch HBP -- K - fly ball Single - - K (Marsh) - Two-out/two/strike-two RBI single (Turner)

Phils win.

Both the fly ball single and the game-winner were in front of Acuna who was playing much deeper than seemed reasonable and who doesn't seem to be moving as well or covering as much ground as he did before his recent (second) ACL surgery. The short fly which fell in front of him looked very catchable.

So Philly will go at least 3-1 in this series while the Mets will do at best 2-2 in theirs, and 4-0 vs 1-3 remains a distinct possibility.

In Cincy, the Cards lead 3-2 after 7

Reds win, but to the Cards who are right behind them in the standings so bad news/good news there.

Cubs down 4-2 in Denver in the 6th so that could still go either way

Padres lose to mini soda

Yanx' 7 game winning streak just got ended with a 3-2 loss to the ChiSox (bottom 8 HR broke the tie)

Bellinger K'd to end the game on a borderline called strike 3 pitch (and tying run on 2nd) so I'm sure Aaron Boone will register a formal protest of the game

Phils/Braves tonight
