Grant was supposed to go to medical school, especially after going undrafted. But the Mets offered him a sweet bonus for an undrafted guy and within two years he was pitching in the big leagues.

Unfortunately, his career has given him the opportunity to learn medicine from the receiving end, as he has been cut open a few times in the last few years, but as of today, he is starting fresh as a Hanshin Tiger, where his manager will be former Cub Kyuji Fujikawa.

Struck me as the kind of guy who was going to be a Mets lifer.

My second favorite Mets 'Grant,' my first being Grant Roberts.

He debuted in another pitching carousel year, 2023 (but aren't they all nowadays); his name is stored in my brain alongside Josh Walker and Zach Muckenhirn.
