Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2025 Posted June 2, 2025 Cowtipper, who needs to join the Mets Roster Central staff, has given us the skinny that Sean Reid-Foley — the first-ever hyphenated (and first Guamanian!) Met — has signed a minor-league deal way off with the Arizona Serpientes.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2025 Posted June 2, 2025 Sean Reid-Foley is a vestige of a bygone era. They had had him since 2021, having acquired him for Steven Matz. So SRF was a connection to the "Big 5" era of DeGrom, Syndergaard, Harvey, Wheeler and Matz, who are all now fading memories.**DeGrom last pitched for the Mets in 2022, Syndergaard in 2021, Matz in 2020, Wheeler in 2019 and Harvey in 2018 (almost a decade ago!). Both Syndergaard and Harvey are out of pro ball. SRF was one of those guys you kept rooting for to finally get a real shot. Kind of like Tommy Hunter. Well, Hunter stunk when he finally got his chance, but SRF dominated. But the gods of baseball are cruel, so of course during his breakout season he gets hurt and that was it for his Mets (big league) career.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2025 Author Posted June 2, 2025 I would guess Syndergaard still has a comeback attempt or two in his future — possibly abroad.I don't think he ever married.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2025 Posted June 2, 2025 The Mets thought enough of his arm to keep him thru however many injuries and development/rehab time he needed.Pitched pretty well but I can't recall if we ever had a Sean Reid-Foley Game.Better than Steven Matz, afaic
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2025 Author Posted June 2, 2025 Crazy-assed mustache. If there was an SRF Game, it might have been his Mets debut. The Mets lost a dreary fifth in a row, but Seannie was electric coming in for three perfect innings of long relief, and the team was so thunderstruck by it that they turned around and won five in a row in response.[FIMG=750]https://leaptoad.com/mets/scorecard_graph.php?game=9428&font=1[/FIMG]
