It's Memorial Day which brings about that long baseball tradition (at least in this age of universal scheduling) multiple teams with the day off.

Six teams are at rest on the holiday including the Braves and Phils. But that ends tomorrow as Braves will be in Philly for games Tues, Wed, and Thu night.

Bottom of 1st in the first of a three game series in Philly, Bryce Harper takes a Spencer Strider fastball off his right elbow (no guard) and immediately has to leave the game.

Scoreless thru 1 but this development bears watching. Ranger Suarez on the bump for Philly.

2-0 Phillies is your phinal.

Braves trailing 4 - 5, Top 9 in Philly, two outs / none on. But then BB, 1B, BB against closer-du-jour Jordan Romano ... who then Ks Eli White looking to end the game.

Phils have now won 11 of 12



They were rained out last night so will play again at 6:45.

Chris Sale v Zach Wheeler will be your marquee matchup (or your Marquis matchup ... whichever you want)

Braves jumped on Wheeler in the 4th and cruised to an easy win.

So a split of the makeup DH (probably the best result for us) as Phils take two of three in the series.

Braves host the Red Sox

Phils home vs Brewers

And the big matchup: Yanx @ Dodgers and, yes, it's the second straight FOX/Saturday ESPN/Sunday display for the L.A. Ohtanis

Braves losing 3-1 late to Boston

Dodgers 8 -- Yanx 5 in a HR-fest out on the left coast.

Judge and Ohtani both HR in the 1st inning (which means 80% of the LAD fans weren't in their seats yet).

HRs for Judge (19), Wells (9), Goldschmidt (6) // Ohtani (21, 22)

Max Fried got fried [5 IP 6 R, 8 H]. It was his first game giving up >2 ER in a game this season.

Dodgers are edging the Yanx 14 - 1 while still batting in the 5th inning!

Starter Will Warren managed to retire four batters. Unfortunately for him the other seven he faced all scored.



Teh one NYY run was, of course, a Judge HR

Some random scores from Saturday: 1-0, 1-0, 2-0, 2-0, 17-7, 16-3, 18-2, 11-7



'It's just baseball, Suzyn. You can't explain it'!





In that 11-7 game the Nats scored 10 in the top of the 1st (including 9 without making a single out) and led the DBacks 11-zip after 2.

They then held on to win the damn thing 11-7

Phils had an early 2-0 lead but are now batting in bottom 9th down 5-2 to the Brew crew. The other Megill on for the save.

It's news to me, but apparently, tapping your helmet is beyond the pale.

Tapping the helmet was the signal used during ST (and in the minors) for a B/S pitch review.

It's not clear to me that that's what the batter was doing but I guess umps are sensitive to that.

I can only imagine how many recreational softball umps in recent years have been mocked by players who didn't like their calls making the 'Headphones' gesture.
