Well, it was a little better than that. Azocar made second base easily.



I was thinking "Jackie Robinson" or "Mays" when Acuna forced the throw to 3B--I loved when these guys got into a pickle because they usually turned it to their advantage through their speed, their smarts, and most of all their ability to change direction on a dime. So far, Acuna's only shown the speed.



And you were right about TBS/MLB. It's tonight's Phillies game that's shown on MLB, though my TV says they're showing the Dodgers game instead.

My bad on Azocar getting to 2nd. But if Acuna is only going to try to dive back into 3rd as soon as the fielders turn their attention to him then he was too far off of 3rd.

If he was going to force an issue by dashing home then he needed to start while they were still concerned with Azocar. By hanging out more or less stationary in between 3rd & home he was essentially saying to them, 'Hey get me, the more important runner, in a pickle instead of him'. And, yes, speed helps in those situations, but it still winds up as an out 90+% of the time.
