I met Ron some time ago. Great guy. Still fit playing ball. Injuries ended his career but to me he was the first lefty 45 the Mets had before Tug and Franco. Too bad he didn't get to show in it New York.



This is the second met we found to be deceased prior to the Rickey announcement.

Baseball Reference has Ron born in 1942, but one assumes his family had the right date.



Ron was my first 1965 card. Got it at my first card show, in 1975.

Ron was a predictor of MLB's huge latter-day sponsorship from buildsubmarines.com, having worked on subs for big-time US Navy contractor General Dynamics before being scouted pitching for the company team.

No disrespect to the funeral home's fact-checking, but after combing through some contemporary reports from his career, 1942 makes more sense as Ron Locke's birthdate.
