Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Turns 25 years old today. The kid has mashed at every level of the minors, including an .854 OPS at AAA Syracuse after getting sent down last year. He hit 16 HRs in 230 ABs. Per Stearns earlier this month, he adjusted well to 2B and can also play a little OF.I don't remember reading any articles about him making an adjustment in his swing, or any other reason for why he can't seem to hit at the Major League level. So whether he can hit in the bigs remains to be seen.Vientos had amassed 274 PAs, before everything clicked for him this year, at age 24. Baty is a year older, and has more than twice as many PAs as Mark did before his breakout. I'm not sure what to think. Maybe he just needed more seasoning at AAA, and he'll come into his own this season. Prior to this year, he'd only had 147 PAs at AAA. I just hope we don't dump him when his value is low. I think he can still find it.
