J.D. carried the team when the baton was in his hand. Maybe it's somebody else's turn. But he got a walk and a sacrifice fly tonight, and tattooed the ball in the ninth.

I'm more concerned about Alonso. I don't see the bat speed, and I don't see him capitalizing on balls left over the plate.

Man, he's tighter than a ducks arse up there , watching that $$ dwindle away will.do that I would guess

An old baseball adage I remember was "power hitters are streak hitters".

Problem is, his hot streaks are getting farther apart.

I've always found the phrase 'tighter than a ducks ass' amusing.

I mean, wtf. Are duck asses tighter than a goose ass? A swan ass?

I wonder what the origin is and who did the initial leg work.

Channeling Paul Lynde, "Someone who was very lonely."

Lowest OPS of his career ... by a lot: 770, previous low in a full season was 821 last year. Career avg 2019-2023 = 870

Overall his BA is 14 points below his career [.238 vs .251] and his OBA down 22 pts [.320 vs .342]

But the slugging is where things are really taking a hit: .450 SlgA vs his career .528

19 HRs (12 of them in Apr & May) on pace for 32. Previous low in a full season is 37 (2021)

Now 30+ bombs still makes him a slugger -- Isolated Power = .190 vs the MLB norm of .154 -- just not an elite one

and not what he had been prior to this year: 277

You left out the part where he's tighter than a duck's ass.

Paul Lynde was a gas

Among other things, Pete's been afflicted with what Keith would call a serious case of Archie Bell & the Drells.
