Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 I think you are thinking about Lunchbucket. He was Iglesias' biggest champ, and seemed generally surprised when Wendle and Short got first dibs, options be damned.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 i wonder where the Mets would be this season without either Vientos or Iglesias? Worse off, likely.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Not quite dark horse stuff, but The Athletic identifies the most indispensable under-the-radar players for each of the playoff contenders:New York Mets: Mark Vientos, 3BMark Vientos has been a key cog in the Mets' lineup and one of their most consistent hitters. He batted .291/.347/.549 in the first half with 12 home runs and has hit .250/.309/.495 in the second half with 12 bombs. On the season, he has a 140 OPS+. He ranks in the 86th percentile in batting run value and in the 92nd percentile in barrel percentage. Vientos has crushed fastballs (.333 batting average against) and changeups (.382) while struggling against breaking balls (.172). His defense has improved considerably since spring training.https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5772020/2024/09/17/mlb-playoff-contenders-2024-analysis/https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5772020/2024/09/17/mlb-playoff-contenders-2024-analysis/
