Both managers bend over backwards to shake up their lineups, with Buck stacking his order with lefties and Torey Lovullo filling his card with righties.

This must mean the Mets are starting a lefty, and — HOLY CRAP! — the guy on the hill is somebody who wasn't even on the roster when I last checked an hour ago! Welcome back, Joey Fuego!!

Unless I misremember, Buck Showalter was the first employee in the history of the Diamondbacks, who hired him to manage the team before there was a team to manage. The 'Backs reached the post-season faster than any expansion team in history before being taken down by the Mets and a juiced-up Todd Pratt. Buck was rewarded by being fired on the eve of Arizona's first and only championship.

I doubt he has payback on his mind. It's been a while. But if you find yourself in the vicinity of Buck and don't sense there is enough fire in his belly, please feel free to remind him.

Good, he should

AZ shortstop Jordan Lawlar is #10 on the MLB pipeline rankings

They are looking to him to become one of the faces of the franchise sooner rather than later, teaming with Corbin Carroll

He is 1-13 to start his career whiffing seven times

Speaking of sparkling plays in CF, a pair of gems from Pete Crow-Armstrong last night, at spacious Coors Field no less.

Cubs still wound up getting swept by the Rox.

I thought he wad going to be out -- and would have been with even a decent second throw -- but it was an aggressive and correct call (IMO) with two outs and the Squirrel running.

It's nice to see Vientos get that homer. The Mets stacked all these lefties into their lineup, but they went with him at DH when they might have otherwise gone with Vogelbach.

So do the Mets try to go with a six-man rotation for the rest of the way.

I wanted to see if the extra rest would be beneficial to Senga. So I went to baseball reference to check how many innings per year he pitched in Japan.

But baseball reference does not show any Japanese League statistics for him.(even when I clicked minors)

Then I checked Masanori Murakami - none there either.

They show Mexican League numbers, but consider them "AAA".

I'm shocked and disappointed.
