Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 The game is on now, Ash. Ketel Marte strikes out to lead off.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 An 0-2 pitch with too much plate gives the 'Backs the first run of the game, and they're still first-and-third.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Mets answer a two with a three and counting!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 That young boy do hit the ball hard when he connects.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 I stepped away for a minute. I was not expecting the Mets to swap pitchers.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 We've hit balls a lot harder than the Snakes have tonight. It would nice to have a bigger lead on account of it and not spend the next two innings being one pitch away from losing the lead.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Y'know, kinda like that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 It would be wrong to make something out of Pavin Smith being named after golfer Corey Pavin, so I'm not going to do that.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 PO, K, K from the middle of the lineup. Our offensive juggernaut rolls on.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Brent Strom likes to address his pitchers while sticking his finger in their faces.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Weak night for Roberto Ortíz. Unfortunately, the Mets put themselves in a position that they needed better from him.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 There's just ZERO faith that anyone on this entire team is going to come through with an important hit with a tying or go-ahead run on base.Nimmo coming up with an attempt to prove me wrong.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Mets have scored more than four runs three times in their last 17 games (losing once and needing extras to win in another) and more than six runs just once.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2023 Author Posted September 12, 2023 Oh well, they are doing their best.

Has anyone seen performance (BAwRISP VS BA) numbers that might prove this?Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 (edited) It's not a case of hitters being either 'clutch' or 'choke', it's that they're simply not hitting enough in ANY situation. Look at the box stores (<4 RS 3 times in last 17 games) they're averaging about 3 RS/G on about a half dozen hits. Most of the HRs are solo nor because they don't know how to hit with men on base but because there so rarely are any.I think we get so busy sometimes piling hate on whichever reliever gave the runs that particular day that we fail to note that nothing but perfection from each of them is good enough because we so rarely score following a few token runs by the 2nd inning. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Of course you are allowed to use the word "choke."
