metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I'm going to think Cohen is waiting on Stearns and he'll make those big decisions next season
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Cohen has said that he won't shake up the front office or the coaching staff before the season ends, and for now I'm taking him on his word. As far as the players, I think anybody not under contract for next season (Canha, Pham, Carrasco, Vogelbach) is gone unless things turn around very quickly. I'm not sure the extent to which Cohen would trust Eppler with moving players under more long-term control.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Fire Steve CohenAre you longing for the "good old days" when the Wilpons were pinching every penny. The teams generally weren't burdened with high expectations, so there was no need to get too upset when they proved to be pretenders. Well, this year has been very disappointing, but I have far more faith that Cohen's ownership will improve the Mets than I did under the Wilpon regime.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 I think history tells us that ashie is always more excited by the next thing than the current thing.I imagine nobody currently has the juice to fire Mr. Cohen.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Every time I'm getting ready to count some of the Mets out (I'm thinking Canha and Marte), they get up off the canvas and do something to help win a game.Later

When talking about the potential for being sellers, he went out and volunteered that salaries were sunk costs and he would happily pay them off to get better prospects back - most owners would say fuck it i want my cash.As Mets fans, we really couldn't ask for a better owner.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Cohen will never underspend, but he still has to spend well AND surround himself with the right people.
