Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Light schedule tonight, but the Braves will host the ALC-leading though water-treading Twins for a series. And a matchup of two of 2023's biggest surprises in MLB as the Reds head to BaltimoreIn series starting tomorrow the Phils head to Wrigley and the Marlins to FenwayYanx go to Oakland after the Rangers showed this past weekend that even when they're good they can't beat NYY (Yanx took 2-of-3].F. Freeman notched his 2,000th hit on Sunday and boldly says he wants to get to 3KHe's averaged 186/per over his last four full seasons including two league-leading years [2018 & 2022]Turns 34 in September. Can he do 160-ish a season for his age 34 - 39 seasons?I wouldn't bet against him.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 The A's undid all of the good they did two weeks ago. They've lost their last nine of 10 and are now exactly at .250 (20-60). They play the Yanks right now.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 The Royals are only 3 or 4 up on Oakland
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2023 Author Posted June 26, 2023 Braves up 2-1 on Twins in the 7th ... and then Acuna hits a 2R HR because the Braves hit late innings homers every night.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 The Braves are a juggernaut right now.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 I thought it was fine the way it was, but yeah.If Travis d'Arnaud had gotten into a few more games (and that's a caveat that has likely been typed a few times) the Braves would be a rare team to have two catchers make the All-Star team in the same season.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 Braves won again this afternoon giving them a three game sweep over the Twinkies and boosting them to 20-4 for the month (a Joon Boon!).They didn't hit their usual quota of six 1st inning HRs today. Instead they threw out a starter who hadn't pitched in two seasons so naturally they won via a 3-0 shutout.Twins scored just 3 runs in the whole series in large part due to going Oh-fer-23 w/RiSP!!!!!!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2023 Author Posted June 29, 2023 If you throw a perfect game but it comes against the 2023 Oakland A's ... does it go into the record books with an asterisk?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 Miami in Atlanta for the weekend. Braves first time through their lineup only resulted in five runs today.5-0
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I've been a serious Mets fan probably since 96/97, it seems like the Braves have never not been good.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 They were under .500 for a four season span from 2014-17 after they abruptly switched gears and dumped a bunch of long term contract guys they had only recently signed. Then, within a short time, all they did was bring up Acuna, Albies, Freeman, Riley, Fried, Soroka, etc. and traded for several others (Swanson)

Still just the 6th inning. Matt Olson has 2 HRs, a triple and a single. I wonder if anyone's going to ask him why he didn't stop at 2nd on one of the homers so he could notch a cycle.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 Yanx taking it on the chin (or maybe in the nuts) in StL: 11-0, top 6thHits, errors, and walks galore for the Red Birds. Yanx have 3 hits. And, since they got rained out last night, this is the first of two.Hey, if I can't watch my team win then I'm going to revel in the misfortune of others, especially THAT one!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 The Mets have scored 23 1st inning runs this seasonThe Braves have scored 11 1st inning runs Since Yesterday! and now have 86 on the year.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 So the Marlins, hot for most of June, must have been looking forward to their series with the Braves as a way to find out if they could play at the top level. They get swept while being out-scored 27-7Reality bites sometimes.
