metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Pete really isn't very well liked, at least that is the vibe I get over the last few years.Edit to say throughout the game from other teams fans ,like he is really disliked
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Have not noticed agita directed again PeteAgainst the Mets is a different story and yes to thatI like Michael Wilbon but he slams on the Mets at every opportunity, sloppy Cubs fan that he is
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Jealousy. Pete is more handsome than Aaron. Not by a lot, but a little. Enough. (I haven't really read much Pete hate)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 I can't offer much praise for the insights of Michael Wilbon. I guess he looks bright next to Tony Kornheiser. I'll give him that.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Author Posted June 7, 2023 This kind of thing is what I see on Twitter, I know it's Twitter but that's where I'm seeing it, there seems to be a hard-core group of Braves fans that especially dislike Pete
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Pete apparently went yapping -- "Throw that pitch again ... throw it again" -- at Braves starter Bryce Elder following the flat slider.he hit out of the park last night. Not sure if anything specific prompted that (I wouldn't have picked Pete as a big trash talker) and some stuff certainly pre-dates just yesterday. But, whatever started this, yapping like that from the dugout will only fuel the fire.

The word The Met Man is looking for is dregs.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Author Posted June 7, 2023 I think his zen like approach during the HR Derby turned a lot of people off , I remember a lot of chatter about then.i don't know, Pete seems like a great guy who is loving life , maybe that's part of it
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 ATL fans cheered. F them, classless, entitled pieces of garbage.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 “Let me tell you, those fans in Washington and Philadelphia, I like 'em. They hate me so much, that it's almost like an acknowledgment. They boo me so hard, they yell at me. They call me so many vile names that it's almost respect.”—Bill Parcells in 1989, for Jerry Izenberg's classic No Medals for TryingPete understands.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Author Posted August 23, 2023 The Milwaukee Brewers made a significant push to acquire New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso before the trade deadline, according to sources briefed on the discussions. Opinions differ on how close a deal was to fruition, but one thing is clear: Alonso's future with the Mets remains a major question.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 That's always been true and probably always is going to be true, right up until he signs a long-term, no-trade contract. And then it goes from major question to minor question. The only permanent thing is the change, baby.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 A losing team listened to trade offers on a star player signed 1 more year? yawn.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Yes, of course they should listen. But it sounds like the Brewers weren't offering nearly enough. The fact that the Mets set a high price for Alonso would seem to indicate that they'd prefer to keep him.I very much hope he gets extended before he hits free agency.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Author Posted August 23, 2023 I would be really, really pissed if Pete isn't tied up , expecting that to happen maybe this off season
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 It just seems like, as Mets fans, we're not allowed to have nice things.
