He was the oldest living Met. That honor now belongs to someone named "Willie Mays", who turned 92 last month. Galen Cisco moves into the Top Ten, and Tim Harkness into the Top Twenty.

Too bad he waited until he joined Houston and taught it to Mike Scott instead of some of his Mets teammates.

He was one of the ex-Brooklyn Dodgers they had on those early teams (to attract their fans)and arguably the most successful pitcher.

This also pares the fraternity of living 1955 Dodgers down to two — Erskine and Koufax. Erskine is also part of the dwindling group of MLB WWII vets, having served in the Navy at the tale end of the war.
