Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Three times I turned this game off, and three times I turned it back on. Something just said to stick with it. Glorious!!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Wanna know the definition of a big win?- scored nothing off the starter - were being shut out into the 7th- gave up two HRs and seven SBs - Ottavino and Robertson combined to give up 3 runs... and they win anyway!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Not to put a damper on things, but the Braves are about to win a back and forth game in Arlington, TX... and they do.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Gonna be hard to decide who to dole out Schaeffer suds to tomorrow...

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 You can't help but immediately speculate on the importance of such a game, but when the player is asked immediately afterwards something along the line of "How foundational is this win going forward?" as an athlete, I'd like to say, "Ask me that tomorrow; let's all enjoy this one just for itself."Also, I liked how Alonso's homer took the same trajectory as Álvarez', but went 10 feet further.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 I went to bed disappointed after Tampa scored two , so happy to see the win

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Alvarez' would have gone further, as it was much more of a liner, but Alonso's landed deeper in the seats.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Home run distance really should be where the ball would have landed if it had completed its arc without hitting a wall or the seats. They may not have been able to do such calculations in Mickey Mantle's time, but I'm sure they can do it now.
