He's a terrific talent. I had my doubts about how long a guy taller and leaner than Darryl Strawberry was going to last as a shortstop, but it stinks to see him hurt so badly on the bases.

Yeah and as my husband enters his ninth week of recovery from his broken ankle, I'd call it more than banged up .

I don't think there was any attempt there to hit the catcher, more just a bad and awkward slide than a dirty one. In the head-on angle you can see indecision on Cruz's part as he got closer.
